Towering and friendly, this Argentinian wall uses superhuman leaping and raw strength to dominate the skies, though his heading remains a puzzling work in progress. After shattering his wrist in a bizarre rhythmic gymnastics accident, he channelled that frustration into becoming a relentlessly aggressive defensive engine. He now patrols the pitch with fearsome speed and impeccable recovery tackles.
