Though a devastating shoulder dislocation once nearly ended his career, this silent Portuguese wall used the agonizing rehab to sharpen his otherworldly reflexes and gravity-defying dives. His command of the penalty area remains a nervous work in progress, but when the striker shoots, he flies through the air with a feline grace that ignores the laws of physics. Reserved off the pitch, he lets his fingertips do the talking by turning certain goals into highlight-reel denials.
